Small plane crashes in Croatia, kills four
Four killed as plane crashes after vanishing from radarĀ
Zagreb: Authorities in Croatia said that the wreckage of a small plane that had gone off the radar on the weekend was found, adding that all four people on board were dead.
According to details, on board the plane were two Germans, one Croat and a Swiss pilot.
Search teams found the Cessna 182 plane near Brocanac, central Croatia, said the head of the civil protection teams, Damir Trut.
“As soon as the plane was spotted from above (by drone), search teams went to the scene,” officials said.
“Unfortunately, it has been confirmed that all the passengers have died”.
The plane went missing on Sunday after taking off from the Adriatic Sea port of Split toward Germany. Local media reported that the weather in the area was bad and that the pilot sent an appeal for help before crashing.
The search had been delayed due to bad weather.
There was initially no information on the fate of those on board after the plane went off the radar for unknown reasons.
Reportedly, four hundred workers from the civil defence, police and firefighting department were involved in the search operation. The teams also used drones to help with their efforts.
The plane crashed in a mountainous area and its wreckage was found in the hamlet of Brocanac.
