'Much-awaited' Orange Line bus service launched in Karachi

Karachi: The PPP-led Sindh government on Saturday unveiled the Orange Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) after a wait of five years.

Sindh Minister for Information and Transport Sharjeel Inam Memon inaugurated the service that would facilitate motorists traveling between Orangi Town and Board Office Chowk.

The bus service, which will operate on a 3.88-kilometer-long route, will provide connectivity from Orangi Town to the Board Office Chowk traffic intersections, and has been named BRT Abdul Sattar Edhi Line to pay tribute to the late philanthropist.

"From tomorrow Orange Line BRT ( Abdul Sattar Edhi Line ) will be open for the people of karachi. Due to current situation of Floods the opening will be in simple manner. PPP’s Sindh government will focus on more transport projects for the people of Sindh," the minister said in a tweet.

The minister told media that fares charged from commuters will range between Rs10 and Rs20.
