Constitutional amendments: Govt welcomes Maulana’s proposals
Legal team of the PPP and PML-N will share their draft with JUI-F
Islamabad: The federal government has accepted the proposals made by Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman regarding constitutional amendments.
It has been decided to call the meeting of both houses of the Parliament after the SCO summit. Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman will hand over his draft of the constitutional amendments to the government team in two to three days.
Government sources said that the legal team of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) will share their draft with JUI-F.
The amendments on other matters including the procedure of appointment of judges will be brought later. In the first phase, amendments will be brought regarding the establishment of the Constitutional Court and the appointment and powers of its judges.
