Adelaide: With an incredible turnaround, Pakistan has now secured a spot for itself in the semi-finals after thrashing Bangladesh by five wickets.

The game between both sides had become a virtual quarter-final after South Africa's defeat to the Netherlands earlier in the day. Pakistan began the Super 12s with back-to-back defeats, but now has qualified for the semi-finals.

Both Pakistan and Bangladesh had four points each so far and a win for either side was enough to secure 2 points more and go to six points.

The national team will qualify for the last four stage along with India now.

Bangladesh set a 128-run target for Pakistan in the crucial quarterfinal of the World Cup event. The must-win game for both teams was being played at Adelaide.

Bangladesh were restricted after losing eight wickets.

Notably, green shirts bounced back brilliantly by recording back to back wins against Netherlands and South Africa, after losing two close encounters against India and Zimbabwe. However, to qualify for the next round, Pakistan need to win their game.
