LG Polls Karachi: Seven election camps set on fire
There was no loss of life in the incident, but the equipment in the camp was partially damaged.
Karachi: Seven polling camps of political parties Saturday have been burnt in different areas of Karachi by unidentified people during the polling process of local body elections.
The polling for local body elections has been held in 16 districts of Karachi and Hyderabad divisions.
According to reports, police stated that before the start of polling, first blaze incident was reported in Saudabad area where the fire was controlled in no time. However, the suspects fled the scene.
There was no loss of life in the incident, but the equipment in the election camp was partially damaged.
The people involved in the incident of setting fire to the election camp have not yet been identified nor have any arrests been made.
The police official stated that the investigation is underway to determine the responsible people.
Two camps of a political party have been set on fire in Malir city, Alimabad. Moreover, the incidents of burning election camps have also been reported in Korangi.
Police and Rangers officers were present at the affected camps.
