Islamabad: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), Sikandar Sultan Raja has summoned a meeting of Election Commission on February 13 (Monday) at the commission’s secretariat to discuss holding Punjab Assembly elections.

The meeting has been called in the light of Lahore High Court’s (LHC) directions to hold Punjab Assembly elections within a period of 90 days after President Dr. Arif Alvi's letter to commission for holding elections.

The forum will finalize a plan to implement the LHC verdict.

Earlier today Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Hussain Chaudhry turned to Twitter and wrote: “The Election Commission should have held a meeting today for the elections,” adding that don't make a joke of the constitution and court orders.

He stated that even after the clear orders of the court, there is a general impression that since the ECP consists of clerks, it will not hold provincial elections like Islamabad.

“This fiddling with the constitution will cost the country dearly,” Fawad added.

Continuing the series of tweets, the PTI leader criticized that, “We have constitution as the only agreed document, if the constitution is also trampled, the state of Pakistan will be in serious danger”.

Chaudhry expressing the fury said, “Enough is enough, our movement is ready for the supremacy of the constitution, which will start from ‘Jail Bharo’”.

The movement will continue till the restoration of the constitution, former minister stated.
