BTS' 'Dynamite' tops 1 Billion views on YouTube; becomes fastest Korean MV to achieve this feat
Seoul: Korean boyband BTS’s record-breaking and Grammy nominated song 'Dynamite' has crossed one billion views on YouTube in just seven months. This is the fastest time in YouTube history that this milestone has ever been achieved by a K-pop group.
‘Dynamite’ is the K-pop group’s first song entirely in English charted in over 50 countries on YouTube and opened at No. 1 on the ‘YouTube Global Top Songs chart’ for 32 consecutive weeks.
The seven-member group became the first Korean pop act to reach no.1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, with their first English-language single.
The single off their newest released album ‘BE’ and one of 2020’s is also bestselling singles as it garnered over 10 million views within the first 20 minutes of its release.
The Grammy nominated Music Video (MV) is the newest entry in YouTube’s ‘Billion Views Club’.
The MV was published in August 2020 and garnered over 101.1 million views in its first 24 hours, making it the biggest music video debut on the video platform to date.
As per YouTube, BTS was one of the top 10 most-viewed artists on the platform in 2020 and they have over 47.4 million subscribers on their official artist channel ‘BANGTANTV’ and 90% of views came from outside of South Korea.
Besides Dynamite there are other BTS music-videos to attain this particular benchmark including ‘Boy With Luv’ (1.1 billion viewpoints) and ‘DNA’ (1.2 billion viewpoints)
Other BTS videos have more than 100 million viewpoints consisting, Fake Love (900-million views), Idol (800-million views) and Blood Sweat Tears (700 million views).
Acclaimed Korean pop band, BTS also known as Bangtan Sonyeondan have named the Global Recording Artist of the Year Award from the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI).
Earlier in January, BTS were also named entertainer of the year by Time magazine and secured its first major Grammy nomination which will held on March 14.
The band debuted in 2013 under Big Hit Entertainment and includes four vocalists and three rappers.
