IHC grants bail to Imran in seven cases

Islamabad: Islamabad High Court (IHC) Monday granted interim bail to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan in seven cases filed against him following clashes at the Federal Judicial Complex (FJC), GNN reported.

According to details, two-member bench lead by Chief Justice Aamer Farooq heard the case with Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb.

Judge ordered police to not arrest Imran Khan.

Chief Justice remarked that the objections to your appeal have been removed, it was told earlier too that biometrics can be done from anywhere.

Responding to which Imran’s lawyer said that I am sorry, will see next time. Biometric of people over 60 years of age is an issue.

Aamer Farooq stated that 60-year-olds don't have thumbprints. Imran’s lawyer Salman Safdar said that his client had secured bail from the Lahore High Court (LHC) on March 17, then he came appeared here on March 18, but could not secure bail from the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC).

The Chief Justice remarked, "Why didn't you go to the trial court?" We told on the previous hearing also that we will look into the admissibility of the plea.

Lawyer Imran Khan said that those bails are still present on the ground, the protection of the applicant's life is important, there has been a murderous attack on him.

Court also questioned federal government for taking back Imran’s security that is his right as former prime minister.

Lawyer Imran Khan said that two former prime ministers have been killed in the history of Pakistan. One of them had been assassinated.

The lawyer further stated that today I have filed seven bail applications. We were not allowed to enter the judicial complex. Later, the IHC granted interim bail in seven cases of Imran Khan.

Earlier today, PTI chief left from Lahore for his court appearance in Islamabad in different cases for interim bail. Lahore High Court (LHC) had approved Khan’s protective bail in all five cases till today.

On the other hand Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Islamabad had summoned former Prime Minister Imran and other 17 leaders of PTI to involve in investigation of terrorism cases.

Security was on high alert around the premises of IHC.

Huge convoy also accompanied Imran on the way to Islamabad from Lahore.
