Six teams are participating in the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup, including Canada, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Pakistan and South Korea


Islamabad: The 30th edition of the Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey Cup in Malaysia is starting today (Saturday), in which Pakistan will play its first match against the host team at 5:30pm.
According to the International Hockey Federation, six teams are participating in the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup, including Canada, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Pakistan and South Korea.
Of these six teams, five teams apart from Japan will travel to Poland to participate in the FIH Hockey Men's Nations Cup immediately after the tournament.
New Zealand and Canada are competing in the first match of this event, which continues till May 11 in Ipoh, Malaysia.
Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2024 will start with a round robin stage where all six teams will play against each other followed by playoffs.
The bottom placed teams in the league stage will compete for fifth place.
The third and fourth placed teams in the pool stage will compete for the bronze medal while the top two teams will play in the final for the title.
