Polling starts for local body by-elections in 24 districts of Sindh
Polling is taking place on 26 seats of 11 Union Councils (UCs) and 15 wards in seven districts of Karachi.
Karachi: The polling has started for 63 vacant seats in 24 districts of Sindh, including Karachi and Hyderabad, for the supplementary local body elections.
According to details the polling process will continue uninterrupted from 8:00am to 5:00pm.
Polling is taking place on 26 seats of 11 Union Councils (UCs) and 15 wards in seven districts of Karachi, while polling is being held on 37 seats in other 17 districts.
More than 7,000 police personnel are performing security duties on this occasion in Karachi, while 292 polling stations in 24 districts have been declared as highly sensitive and 157 as sensitive.
In Kashmore, Sanghar, Jacobabad, Jamshoro, Nawabshah, Tindwalhiar, Matiari, and Shikarpur polling will be held in one seat each while in Khairpur, Sajawal, Ghotki, Badin and Sukkur two seats each will be polled.
Three seats each in Nowshahrofiroz, Dadu and Thatta, while ten seats will be voted in Hyderabad in connection with the by-elections.
It is pertinent to note that the elections could not be held due to the death of candidates for the seats of Member District Council, Chairman, Vice Chairman and General Council.
