Four children found alive in Colombian forest 17 days after plane crash.
Colombia: After a plane crashed in the Amazon jungle of Colombia, resulting in the deaths of three individuals, a remarkable discovery was made.
Four children who had been missing since the incident were found alive in the forest, bringing hope and relief to the nation.
Colombian President Gustavo Pietro shared the news on Twitter, describing it as a joyous occasion for the country. He acknowledged the challenges faced by military personnel during the extensive search operation.
Over 100 military personnel, along with detection dogs, were deployed to locate the missing children.
According to reports, the children, aged 11 months, four, nine, and 13, were passengers on the ill-fated plane that crashed on May 1.
Despite the tragic incident, rescue officials remained hopeful that the children had survived. Their efforts paid off when the children were discovered in Kiquita, a southern part of the forest.
The military officials found a makeshift shelter made of branches in the southern area, indicating the presence of the children nearby.
This discovery intensified the search, which ultimately led to their rescue. Earlier findings, such as a baby's milk bottle and a partially eaten piece of fruit, provided additional clues.
During the rescue operation, the bodies of the ship's captain and two other individuals, including the mother of the children found, were also recovered.
