COAS assures support to implement govt's economic recovery plan

Islamabad: Chief of Amy Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir assured full support of Pakistan Army for implementation of government’s economic restoration plan, stating that it will help Pakistan in socio-economic well-being and regaining its rightful place in the international community.

According to details, a national plan for economic recovery of Pakistan has been prepared, Special Investment Facilitation Council has been established who will remove obstacles in the way of foreign investment.

Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, the first meeting of the council was held at the Prime Minister's House in which Army Chief, Chief Ministers of the Provinces, Federal and Provincial Ministers and other senior government officials participated.

According to declaration, the objective of the national economic recovery plan of Pakistan is to relieve the country from the current economic problems and crises. The plan will pave the way for foreign investment, harnessing the potential of sectors such as agriculture, livestock, minerals, mining, IT, and energy.

Under the plan, all barriers to investment and business activities will be removed. The council will act as a single window facility, and collaboration between the federal and provincial governments will be created.

Shehbaz Sharif in his address to the meeting said: “The current government inherited an economy on the brink of destruction,” adding that they are bringing the economy out of crisis and back to development with difficult and courageous decisions. Export-enhancing foreign direct investment is key.

He stated that the investors will be given first priority, the approval process of the projects will be made faster with the cooperation of the federation and the provinces.

The prime minister continued to say: “The expected investment will create new employment opportunities for youth and women”. He vowed to resolve to work together with full potential.
