The latest reports suggest that the authorities have imposed Section 144 and restricted entry of Afghan refugees into the city.


Peshawar: Peshawar authorities on Tuesday imposed Section 144, restricting the entry of Afghan refugees into the city and prohibiting the display of weapons for a period of 15 days.
These measures aim to maintain law and order during the Muharram procession.
In addition, the district administration of Peshawar banned the writing and publishing of offensive content. Renting cars and motorcycles, using vehicles without number plates, and standing on rooftops along procession routes are also prohibited.
The notification further emphasizes the ban on displaying and carrying weapons, the entry of Afghan refugees into Peshawar and cantonment areas, as well as the sale and use of firecrackers.
Separately, Commissioner Zafar-ul-Islam has stated that preparations are underway to ensure the peaceful observance of Muharram-ul-Haram in Dera Ismail Khan and Tank districts.
The commissioner expressed his commitment to utilize all available resources in collaboration with "Peace Committees" and security departments, including the police, to maintain peace during the upcoming month of Muharram.
He added that the DI Khan police department has finalized all necessary arrangements, with over 7,000 officers and personnel assigned to ensure peace in the district during Muharram.
The commissioner, besides it, emphasized the completion of public welfare projects in the region as a top priority, aiming to benefit the local population.
He assured the utilization of available resources for the timely completion of public welfare projects in Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, and South Waziristan.
