During the ongoing monsoon season, torrential rains have caused widespread devastation across the country, resulting in the loss of 5 lives, including children, and leaving several others injured.

In various regions of Lahore, heavy rainfall has continued for several hours, breaking records in some areas.

Gulshan-e-Ravi recorded a staggering 163 millimeters of rain, while Johar Town received 156 millimeters, Nishtar Town 151 millimeters, and Lakshmi Chowk 142 millimeters.

Concerned about the risk of urban flooding, the provincial government has issued instructions for the authorities to remain on high alert.

The monsoon rains have also affected other districts of Punjab, including Pakpattan, Shakargarh, Kot Addu, Narowal, Koot Nainan, and their surroundings.

In Sheikhupura and Renala Khurd, heavy downpours caused low-lying areas to be submerged in water, and roads were flooded.

In Jauharabad, the Jhelum River's overflow led to a tragic incident where two children lost their lives.

Expressing his condolences, Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi stated that the government shares the grief of the bereaved families and prays for their patience in these testing times.
