Monsoon rains killed 173, injured 133 across Pakistan: NDMA

Islamabad: The Heavy monsoon rains have claimed the lives of 173 people and injured 260 people.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Sunday claims in a report that 69 men, 32 women and 72 children were died in rain-related incidents across country.

According to the NDMA data, 67 persons died in Punjab due to severe rains, compared to 47 deaths in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 10 deaths in Balochistan.

Further, devastating monsoon rains killed 21 in Sindh, 12 in Azad Kashmir and five persons in Gilgit Baltistan, NDMA claimed.

In addition, a report claims that 11 people killed in instances due to the monsoon rain in Islamabad, the federal capital.

At least 260 people were affected during various rain-related occurrences, with Punjab accounting for the majority of those injuries with 158 victims. Rain-related accidents resulted in injuries to 110 men, 76 women, and 74 infants overall.

There were 1,485 homes damaged nationwide by the devastating rain.

According to the NDMA, flash floods throughout the nation also carried away 475 livestock heads.
