Mother of Nation Fatima Jinnah's birth anniversary today

Karachi: The 130th birth anniversary of Madr-e-Millat Fatima Jinnah, the younger sister of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah is being observed today (Monday) with due reverence.

The sacrifices of Fatima Ali Jinnah she made with her brother Jinnah in the movement of Pakistan, will always be remembered.

Fatima was the youngest and most loved sister of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, who was born on July 31, 1893 in Karachi.

After the independence of Pakistan, she co-founded the Pakistan Women's Association which played an integral role in the settlement of the women migrants in the newly formed country.

Ms. Jinnah took full part in the struggle of establishing a separate homeland for the Muslims alongside her elder brother. She started the political journey for the women of 20th century for the first time.

She had the status of a mother for the Pakistani nation for which she was titled as ‘Mother of the Nation’. As a result of Fatima Jinnah's efforts, Khatun Pakistan School was founded in her name in Karachi, which became a college in 1963.

She in her many speeches urged the nation to write, speak and read Urdu. Fatima Jinnah was a prominent political figure and pioneer of women's rights.
