Beijing: China has experienced 40 hours of continuous rainfall which has broken the 140-year record. The torrential rain has claimed at least 20 lives and left 27 missing.

The destructive storm has resulted in flash flooding across China since Saturday.

The Chinese Meteorological Department has recorded 744.8mm of rainfall.

Torrential rain and floods have forced 1.2 million people to evacuate.

As per the Chinese media, several vehicles were swept away by floodwaters in the Chinese capital, Beijing, while torrential rains wreaked havoc in the northern regions of China.

Due to heavy rains, houses, roads, vehicles, and markets were flooded and people started to use boats instead of cars.

Evacuation of 1.2 million people from flood-affected areas has become a challenge for the authorities; while large-scale rescue operations are underway to move the flood-affected people to safer places.
