COAS General Syed Asim Munir has condemned the Jaranwala incident and termed it extremely tragic and intolerable.
Rawalpindi: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir has condemned the Jaranwala incident and termed it extremely tragic and unbearable on Thursday.
COAS General Asim Munir addressed the participants of the yearly ISPR Internship Program being attended by over 370 students from various universities across Pakistan.
Moreover, the COAS highlighted the importance of youth in contributing to national development while speaking to the audience. "Youth is the future of Pakistan, which can significantly contribute to peace, progress, and prosperity of the country," COAS stated.
The COAS also emphasized the hostile forces' attempts to sow divisions, intolerance, mistrust, and aggressive behavior among the populace in order to sow instability and disturbance in the nation.
The COAS stated that it was crucial for young people to be able to distinguish between the truth, a lie, a half-truth, and other types of misinformation.
In response to a participant's query, COAS stated that the "Jaranwala event is exceedingly unfortunate and completely inexcusable. Such acts of intolerance and harsh behavior towards anyone, especially minorities, by any segment of society, have no place in our society.
Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) issued a press statement stating that he stated all Pakistani people are on an equal footing with one another regardless of religion, gender, cast, or creed.
The army chief emphasized that no one will be allowed to take law into own hands and those culpable of committing such crimes will be brought before the court of justice.
In the conclusion, COAS congratulated the young interns for finishing the program successfully.
