Islamabad: The federal government has decided to appoint Saad Warraich as new chargé d’affaires of Pakistan for India.

The Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi's present Chargé d' Affaires, Aizaz Khan, would be replaced by Saad Warriach.

Ambassador Geetika Srivastava has been named as the new chargé d'affaires for Pakistan, and India has also named a new head of its diplomatic mission there.

According to reports, diplomatic visas have been exchanged for the new positions by both parties.

Tuesday marked Pakistan's formal protest to India over the most recent breach of the ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC), as well as its vehement condemnation of the shooting murder of a civilian on Pakistani soil.

Foreign Office (FO) Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch issued a statement saying that India's Charge d' Affaires had been called to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to "register Pakistan's strong protest over the killing of a 60-year-old civilian as a result of firing by the Indian forces."

The FO spokesperson emphasized the importance of upholding calm and peace along the LoC and stated that such actions are a "clear violation of the 2003 Ceasefire Understanding, reaffirmed in February 2021."
