Islamabad: In light of significant cases and arrests, discussions are ongoing to expand the jurisdiction of the Federal Police nationwide.

The Federal Police Ministry has communicated its intentions to the Ministry of Interior.

According to sources, much like the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), the Federal Police may establish offices in all provinces, allowing them to handle their cases in other regions as well.

It's worth noting that last June, the Federal Police proposed incorporating Islamabad International Airport and its surrounding areas into the federal capital.

The proposal also included the Motorway M-1 and M-2 becoming part of Islamabad.

In their letter to the Ministry of Interior, the Federal Police emphasized that VIP movements, security threats, and most protests occur in these areas.

Still, without them falling within Islamabad's jurisdiction, the Federal Police cannot take action.

Islamabad Police has also proposed expanding the federal capital's boundaries to encompass the mentioned areas, making it possible for them to operate there.

The proposal also includes Islamabad's jurisdiction extending over the areas connected to Islamabad International Airport and the M-1 and M-2 Motorways.
