Pakistan committed to support peace initiatives: Caretaker Defence Minister
The two sides have discussed peace and security in the regional and global context.
Islamabad: Caretaker Defence Minister Lt General retired Anwar Ali Hyder on Monday said Pakistan is committed to supporting initiatives on peace.
He was talking to Australian High Commissioner Neil Hawkins, who called on him in Rawalpindi on Monday.
The two sides discussed peace and security in the regional and global context.
The visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in this regard, especially in the Afghanistan peace process.
Bilateral cooperation avenues in the field of counterterrorism and economics also came under discussion.
Agreeing on the existence of enormous scope for strengthening and further cementing bilateral defence ties, both sides assured taking specific practical steps in this regard.
Earlier, Turkmenistan Ambassador Atadjan Movlamov called on Caretaker Finance Minister Dr. Shamshad Akhtar in Islamabad.
During the meeting, they emphasized on strengthening bilateral relations and enhance economic cooperation between the two nations.
