Jamal shah announces to launch heritage channel

Islamabad: Interim Minister for Culture and Heritage Jamal Shah on Tuesday announced to launch dedicated heritage channel for the promotion of regional literature of Pakistan. 

The minister made the announcement while addressing the inaugural session of a two-day conference titled ‘Hum Jugnu Taaray Dharti Ke’ at Pakistan Academy of Letters in Islamabad.

According to the minister, the channel will have translated versions of many types of regional literature, including as parables, adages, poetry, and music, so that young people from all over the nation who speak any language can comprehend the essence of the folk knowledge of our multiethnic nation.

He said that in addition to being published in books and periodicals, the literature would also be translated into the respective languages by musicians and linguists.

The minister stated that although the interim government has a short term, we will work to have this project finished as soon as possible.

Jamal Shah urged raising awareness of regional languages and rich linguistic identities among the younger generation as well as instilling the value of valuing unity in diversity.

Strategies for promoting children's literature in regional languages will be discussed throughout the two-day conference.

It is important to note that Shah's outstanding artistic achievements are not just restricted to the entertainment industry; the renowned painter and sculptor is also responsible for creating the bronze bust of Dr. Abdus Salam, a Pakistani Nobel winner, which was unveiled at the International Atomic Energy Agency last year.
