CPL 2023: Mohammad Amir injured in eliminator match
The pacer who was playing for Tallawahs had to leave the field and was unable to return for further bowling.
Colombo: Former Pakistani fast bowler Mohammad Amir suffered a hamstring injury during the eliminator match of the Caribbean Premier League 2023, held on Monday between Jamaica Tallawahs and St Lucia Kings.
In the match, the Tallawahs, after winning the toss, elected to bowl first. Amir was entrusted with opening the innings for his team.
However, just after delivering three balls, Amir pulled up with a hamstring injury, visibly in discomfort. The left-arm pacer had to leave the field and was unable to return for further bowling.
Nevertheless, the 31-year-old provided an update on his condition via the social media platform 'X,' where he reassured his fans, saying, "I will be fine InshaAllah, was on medication from last week because of a stomach infection so it is just cramps. Hopefully, my hamstring will get better by Friday."
It's noteworthy that Amir has been one of the standout performers in the ongoing CPL 2023, currently holding the position of the second-highest wicket-taker with 15 wickets from 9 matches.
Having retired from international cricket in 2020, Amir continues to make waves in franchise cricket. However, recent speculation has linked him to a potential return to the Pakistan squad for the World Cup 2023, potentially as a replacement for Naseem Shah.
