Punjab govt announces priority Covid-19 jabs for journalists
Lahore: The special assistant to Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar on information and culture Firdous Ashiq Awan on Wednesday announced that all accredited journalists in the province will be included in the list of frontline warriors in the fight against COVID-19.
The Punjab chief minister's advisor took to twitter to share the news and wrote, “Punjab Chief Minister Usman Bazdar's big announcement for front line media workers”.
Punjab government has decided to vaccinate journalists across the province after Eid-Ul-Fitr.
Following all recommendations regarding Covid-19 outbreak CM Usman Buzdar has said that journalists in the province would be vaccinated against the virus on a priority basis after the Eid holidays.
Buzdar has also directed the health department to chalk out a strategy so that all journalists in Punjab could be administered the coronavirus vaccine.
The journalists will now be eligible for all benefits, including priority vaccination against coronavirus
In this regard, he has also given instructions for setting up special centers at press clubs.
Meanwhile, Pakistan has recorded a gradual decline in new COVID-related new infections and positivity rate.
In Punjab, the number of patients swelled to 322,117 in the province with 9,125 causalities.
Pakistan is presently experiencing the third wave of coronavirus which is said to be deadlier and more contagious than previous two waves.
According to National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), around 2,869 cases of coronavirus were reported while 104 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 19,210.
The positivity rate of new cases after a decline was recorded at 7.42%, the NCOC said.
The total number of confirmed cases reached to 867,438.
As many as 771,692 patients have recovered from the disease with 4,707 critical cases.
