Famous comedian Umer Sharif remembered on death anniversary
Umer Sharif was also a recipient of Tamgha-e-Imtiaz by the government of Pakistan.
Lahore: The second death anniversary of renowned actor, King of Comedy, TV, and stage personality, Umer Sharif is being observed today (Monday).
Umar Sharif was born on April 19, 1955 in Liaquatabad area of Karachi. He started his career with stage plays as 'Umar Zarif' as a stage performer at the age of 19 in 1974.
Some of his extremely popular comedy stage plays were ‘Bakra Qistoon Pe’ and ‘Buddha Ghar Pe Hai’.
The legendary comedian and actor was also honored with several awards for his unforgettable services to the Pakistan entertainment industry. He received National awards for Best Director and Best Actor in 1992.
Umer Sharif was awarded two national awards for best acting and direction for the film 'Mr. 420' released in 1992. In addition, he was the only actor to receive 10 Nigar awards. He also received three Graduate Awards.
The legendary comedian and actor was also honored with a Medal of Distinction for his services. Umer Sharif was also a recipient of Tamgha-e-Imtiaz by the government of Pakistan.
Umer Sharif also holds a record in the world of awards. He is the only actor to win four Nigar Awards in one year which is undoubtedly a great honor for any artist.
It is pertinent to note that Umer Sharif died in Germany due to a heart attack on October 2, 2021. Due to his brilliant showbiz career, he is alive in the hearts of his fans even after he has left this world.
