Imran Khan talks to sons in emotional phone call
Advocate Sheeraz Ranjha, Imran Khan's lawyer, says Adiala Jail authorities have complied with the court order, facilitating a WhatsApp call between Imran Khan and his sons.
Lahore: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan had a heartfelt telephonic conversation with his sons, Sulaiman and Qasim, who are currently residing in London.
The call was made possible after a special court granted permission for the former prime minister, currently held at Attock Jail, to communicate with his sons.
Advocate Sheeraz Ranjha, Imran Khan's lawyer, stated that Adiala Jail authorities complied with the court order, facilitating a WhatsApp call between Imran Khan and his sons. The conversation, lasting nearly half an hour, was filled with emotions as Sulaiman and Qasim received comfort and guidance from their father. Imran Khan encouraged them to remain patient during these challenging times.
Imran Khan has been in judicial custody in the cipher case and has been incarcerated in Attock prison since his arrest on August 5.
In a plea filed before Special Court Judge Abual Hasnat Zulqarnain, the former premier sought permission to speak with his sons over the phone. The court accepted his request and instructed the prison administration to arrange the telephonic conversation in accordance with the law.
The cipher case, registered on August 15 under the Official Secrets Act, was initiated based on a complaint by the Home Secretary. The report named Imran Khan and former Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, with references to former Principal Secretary Azam Khan and former Planning Minister Asad Umar.
The FIR outlined allegations of misusing classified documents, stating that a conspiracy was launched to distort the facts of the diplomatic cipher for nefarious purposes. It further accused the former prime minister and foreign minister of endangering state interests by deliberately manipulating the cipher's contents.
