Punjab govt amends partial lockdown imposed due to smog

Lahore: The Punjab government amended the lockdown imposed due to smog in the province.

According to details, the Department of Primary Health Care Punjab has issued an amendment notification in which call centers and international IT centers have also been allowed to operate.

According to the notification, markets in eight districts of the province have been allowed to open today (Thursday) and tomorrow (Friday) while shopping malls and markets will remain closed on Saturday and Sunday.

The notification stated that restaurants, cinemas and gyms will also be open as usual today.

It has also been stated in the notification that the decision of smart lockdown will also apply to Lahore, Nankana Sahib, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Gujranwala, Narowal, Hafizabad and Sialkot.

Notably, it has been decided to impose a smart lockdown in five districts of Punjab including Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Hafizabad and Wazirabad due to smog from November 10 to November 12.

During the Smart Lockdown, all schools, offices, markets, recreational spots, marriage halls, cinemas will remain closed, while under Section 144 cases will be registered for burning crop residue and garbage.

Earlier, in view of smog, Friday was declared a holiday in various districts of Punjab including Lahore by the caretaker Punjab government.
