Justice (rtd) Arshad Hussain Shah appointed as KP new caretaker CM

Peshawar: In a recent development, Justice (Retired) Arshad Hussain Shah has been officially appointed as the Caretaker Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, following the approval of the summary by KP Governor Ghulam Ali.
The appointment comes in the wake of the passing of Azam Khan, the former Caretaker Chief Minister of the province, and Arshad Hussain Shah's previous role as the Minister for Law and Auqaf and Human Rights in Khan's cabinet.
Justice Arshad Hussain Shah brings with him a wealth of experience, having served as the Chief Judge of the Supreme Appellate Court Gilgit-Baltistan from 2019 to 2022 and as a justice at the Peshawar High Court (PHC).
The political landscape in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is currently undergoing shifts, with former opposition leader Akram Khan Durrani expressing his commitment to swiftly reaching a consensus on the appointment of a new caretaker chief minister. Despite this commitment, the chosen candidate for the position has not been disclosed by Durrani.
Notably, there is opposition to the proposed appointment from the Tehreek-e-Insaf (TI) party, with Akram Durrani emphasizing that the constitution provides clarity on such matters. He suggests that PTI consult its legal experts to gain a clearer understanding of the situation.
