Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Wednesday granted protective bail to Pakistan Tehreek-e-INsaf (PTI) lawyer Sher Afzal Marwat in the case of hate speech against state institutions registered against him in Peshawar.

According to details, a case has been registered against Chairman PTI's lawyer Sher Afzal Marwat in Mohmand Agency for which IHC has barred Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police from arresting him.

Sher Afzal has been directed to approach the trial court within 14 days.

During the hearing, on the inquiry of Chief Justice IHC Aamer Farooq, Sher Afzal Marwat said that eight cases have been registered against him so far.

On which Chief Justice remarked: “You seem to be following your leader, as many cases will be filed against you as him”.

Sher Afzal Marwat replied it has become a trend to file cases against political opponents.

It is pertinent to note that earlier this week, Peshawar High Court (PHC) was told that two cases have been registered against PTI lawyer Sher Afzal in KP for making speeches against the state institutions and inciting people to revolt for which a case has been registered in Sadar Police Station Dera Ismail Khan and another similar case is registered in District Mohmand.
