PTI seeks security for intra-party elections

Islamabad: Chief Election Commissioner Niazullah Niazi of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) wrote a letter to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for the peaceful conduct of intra-party elections, seeking security from the IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Chief Secretary.

Chief Election Commissioner PTI Niazullah Niazi wrote in a letter to that PTI is going to conduct intra-party elections on December 02 in the context of the November 23 decision. The day of polling has been fixed.

Niazullah Niazi stated to the ECP that Peshawar has been selected for polling. Therefore, instructions should be issued to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the Chief Secretary for security so that the intra-party election can be held peacefully.

On the other hand, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police announced to provide security for PTI intra-party election today where Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) operations will supervise the security itself.

SSP Operations Peshawar Kashif Aftab Abbasi speaking on the occasion of a late night visit to Ranogarhi said that PTI party election organizers did not provide details to the police till 12:30am.

He said that despite not giving details, the PTI intra-party election venue will be secured by the police.

Following the request of PTI's Chief Election Commissioner, the ECP had directed the Chief Secretary and IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to make security arrangements.
