LHC bars police from harassing citizens for license

Lahore: The Lahore High Court (LHC) Wednesday issued a written order on the petition against making criminal records of underage drivers.

According to the details, Justice Ali Zia Bajwa of the LHC issued a one-page written order in which the court restrained police personnel from harassing citizens in the name of license.

The court ordered the Superintendent of Police (SP) Criminal Record Office (CRO) to submit a detailed report with instructions and the SP CRO sought time to submit the detailed report with instructions to the officers.

It has also been stated in the order that court does not allow the police to harass any citizen.

According to the written order, the Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) said that the operation against under-age and unlicensed drivers is going on as a result of which a large number of citizens have obtained licenses.

The order stated that the SP Operation said that action will be taken against the drivers arrested without license as per the law, on which the court ordered the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operation and DIG Investigation to ensure that citizens are not harassed.
