According to foreign media reports, the publisher of the Oxford Dictionary has declared 'Rizz' as the word of 2023.

According to media reports, every year Oxford University Press adds a new word to the dictionary. For this year the word 'Rizz' has been chosen.

'Rizz' was selected from a shortlist of eight words in which words 'Swifty', used for fans of Taylor Swift, and a word used for informal romantic or sexual relationships ‘Situationship' was also included.

According to media reports, the word 'Rizz' was widely used as a hashtag this year on various social media platforms, especially TikTok.

According to Oxford University Press, the word ‘Rizz’ is an abbreviation of the word ‘charisma’ in the motivational language and is used in the same sense.

It is pertinent to note that every year Oxford monitoring experts look at words that are being used more frequently than before or that are new to the language.

These experts add new words to the dictionary every year which are in common use among the public.

Notably, last year Oxford University Press added the word ‘goblin mood’ to the English dictionary, which means selfish, lazy and greedy.
