Lahore:  Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Supremo and former three-time Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that the prime minister was 'selected' in the 2018 elections through 'electoral engineering.'

Sharif expressed concern that the country had paid a considerable price for having an undeserving individual in the prime ministerial role.

He was addressing the party’s parliamentary board in Lahore’s Model Town on Tuesday.

The PML-N supremo emphasized the stark disparity between the promises and actions of the PTI chief during his tenure in power.

Reflecting on his own government's term in 2017, Sharif noted that the country was progressing well with the pursuit of various development projects. He highlighted the initiation of the first motorway during that period, emphasizing the rapid execution of projects aimed at providing relief to the masses.

Sharif claimed that had the same trajectory continued, the country would have reached its destination by now. However, he lamented the fact that countries that were once behind Pakistan had surged ahead. Sharif further pointed out that during his party's tenure, essential commodities like vegetables, pulses, and flour were affordable, but their prices had skyrocketed when the PTI came to power through an allegedly unfair process.
