Case of attack on former CJP Saqib Nisar's house registered

Lahore: A case of grenade attack on the residence of former Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice (R) Saqib Nisar in Garden Town, Lahore has been registered.

According to the details, Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Punjab registered a case against the plaintiff of Constable Sajjad Hussain, which includes terrorism provisions.

According to the text of the First Information Report (FIR), the grenade was hurled at a vehicle parked between the garage and yard of the house, injuring constables Amir Ali, Khurram Shahzad and Sajjad Hussain, while the windows of two vehicles were also broken.

At the time of the explosion, former Chief Justice of Supreme Court Saqib Nisar was present at home with all the family members.

Police said that according to initial information, the accused motorcycle riders escaped immediately after throwing crackers.

Former Chief Justice said that he was inside the house with his family at the time of the incident and came out after hearing a loud explosion.

He added that two police personnel were injured due to the grenade blast. Lahore Police reached the spot and investigated the matter.

Saqib further said that CCTV was not installed at his house, even when he was the Chief Justice.

It is pertinent to note that Mian Saqib Nisar held the post of Chief Justice of Pakistan from December 31, 2016 to January 17, 2019.
