PTI withdraws ‘bat sign’ petition filed in SC
Barrister Gohar Ali Khan stated, ‘The decision from PHC will be in our favor’.
Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Wednesday withdrew the petition filed in the Supreme Court for the provision of bat election symbol.
Talking to the media outside Supreme Court, Chairman PTI Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said that they had filed an application in the Supreme Court regarding the election bat sign which was to be heard today. However, their main case is also in the Peshawar High Court (PHC) for which the decision will be pronounced today, therefore they have withdrawn their petition from the Supreme Court.
Barrister Gohar Ali Khan stated, ‘The decision from PHC will be in our favor’.
It is pertinent to note that the hearing on PTI's application for the bat symbol was to be held in the Supreme Court today by a three-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa.
Earlier, PTI's lawyer, Barrister Gohar Ali had stated that if the decision is pronounced today, PTI candidates will be able to get party tickets, if there is a delay, even if the decision is in their favor, it will be of no use and PTI will lose its election sign.
