Sumaira Malik parts ways with PML-N
The former federal minister submits her resignation to PML-N Punjab President Rana Sanaullah, and does not mention the reason behind her decision.
Lahore: Former Federal Minister Sumaira Malik formally severed ties with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Monday, marking a significant development in the lead-up to the impending general elections. She officially stepped down from her role as PML-N Punjab vice-president.
The sources said that Sumaira Malik did not disclose the reasons behind her resignation but submitted it to PML-N Punjab President Rana Sanaullah. Alongside her resignation, she also publicly declared her departure from the party's membership, hinting at a notable redirection in her political trajectory.
This decision unfolds against the backdrop of Sumaira Malik's earlier pursuit of a party ticket for the NA-87 constituency. Despite her application, the ticket was given to Shakir Bashir Awan by the party's leadership. In response, Sumaira Malik affirmed her intent to embark on as an independent candidacy in the upcoming elections.
