IHC extends injunction on trial of illegal marriage case
The court adjourned the hearing by extending the order of prohibition on the trial of the marriage case during the period of Iddat till January 31.
Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Thursday extended the injunction on the trial of illegal marriage case filed against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi.
According to the details, Chief Justice of IHC Aamer Farooq heard the petitions of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi to dismiss the complaints in the Nikah case during which PTI founder and Bushra Bibi's lawyer Salman Akram Raja could not appear in the court.
Salman Akram Raja's assistant counsel pleaded for adjournment of the hearing till next week, while Bushra Bibi’s ex-husband Khawar Manika's counsel Raja Rizwan Abbasi pleaded for lifting the injunction on the trial.
Raja Rizwan Abbasi said that the court has issued an injunction which should be removed as no one comes to the court after taking such relief, therefore the court should schedule the case for arguments tomorrow.
On this, Justice Aamer Farooq replied that do not say that, there are three lawyers present from their side in the court.
Later, the court adjourned the hearing by extending the order of prohibition on the trial of the marriage case during the period of Iddat till January 31.
The court ordered the trial court not to record the statements of the witnesses till January 31, saying that the injunction on the trial will remain in force till January 31.
It is pertinent to note that Khawar Manika had filed a case of Illegal marriage against former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi.
