It should be noted that the founder PTI had challenged the issue of not getting coverage on Television channels in LHC.
Lahore: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has directed to give equal media coverage to all the candidates including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) founder, Imran Khan in the upcoming general elections ahead on February 8.
According to the details, Justice Shams Mahmood Mirza issued a 10-page written decision on the request of Imran.
It has been stated in the written judgment that Article-17 of the Constitution obliges every citizen to provide other rights including freedom of expression, election campaign for general elections and publicity of their manifesto is a fundamental right.
The written judgment further said that for fair and transparent elections, there should be freedom of expression through free media because without freedom of expression, elections cannot be declared fair and transparent.
The court has also referred to the decisions of Nawaz Sharif and Benazir Bhutto in the written decision.
It should be noted that the founder PTI had challenged the issue of not getting coverage on Television channels in LHC.
