Court moves Imran Riaz to jail for judicial remand
He said that the anti-corruption team all of a sudden appeared at night and arrested Imran Riaz without any notice.
Lahore: The court has sent journalist Imran Riaz to jail for judicial remand.
According to the details, anti-corruption team apprehended Imran Riaz and present him before court. Judicial magistrate Imran Abid heard this case.
The anti-corruption team appealed for physical remand of Imran for 14 days which has been rejected by the court. The court issued orders of his judicial remand.
Imran Riaz’s lawyer told the court that in this case in which Imran apprehended regarding this inquiry he was summoned in 2022 and after that he never got any call in this case.
He said that the anti-corruption team all of a sudden appeared at night and arrested Imran Riaz without any notice.
Imran stated that these people came to my house and he himself surrendered before the anti-corruption team. He said that he restricted the team not to enter in his house but the team put him into the van and got into his house.
He claimed that for almost 15 minutes the team was searching in his house. The team is lying about the therabi lake scheme.
“I bought this scheme more than 40Rs million. I always said that I have given the tax timely. Whenever I bought some kind of land I paid full amount of it.” Imran added.
He affirmed that he cooperated fully with the team earlier but now the team has changed the investigative person and that is why this case reopened after a long time.
It should be noted that the court reserved the verdict regarding Imran’s physical remand which has now been declared.
