Members take oath on reserved seats in Punjab Assembly

Lahore: The newly elected members of reserved seats in the Punjab Assembly took oath on Friday.

During the assembly session presided over by Speaker Punjab Assembly Malik Ahmad Khan, members elected on women and minority seats took oath while Malik Ahmad Khan administered oath to the newly elected members.

Among the women members who took oath are Sadia Muzaffar, Fiza Maimoona, Abida Bashir, Maqsoodan Bibi, Amira Khan, Somia Atta, Rahat Afza, Rukhsana Shafiq, Tahseen Fawad, Farzana Abbas, Shagufta Faisal, Uzma Butt, Maria Talal, Sajida Naveed, Nasreen Riaz, Afsheen Hassan, Amna Parveen, Shahr Bano, Zeba Ghafoor, Rubina Nazir and Syeda Samira Ahmed.

Tariq Masih, Waseem Anjum and Basroji took oath on minority seats.

Opposition protests

During the swearing-in of the members of the assembly, noise was made by the opposition and the opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly, Rana Aftab, while speaking in the house, said that after winning the election, our members joined the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC), these are our seats and should be given to us.

Rana Aftab requested the Speaker Punjab Assembly to run the House according to the rules of business.

He stated that the decision regarding reserved seats is under hearing in the court and oath should not be taken, to which Malik Ahmad Khan said that everything is being done according to the constitution and law.

Rana Aftab said that do not misinterpret the law.
