Punjab to provide spectacles, hearing aids to 0.7mn students

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Saturday approved the project to provide glasses and hearing aids to 0.7 million students in the province.

Under the project, students in schools of Punjab will be screened to check their eyesight and hearing, spectacles and repairing aid will be given to the students with weak eyesight and hearing.

In this regard, the screening process will be started soon in public and private schools of Punjab.

A delegation of AtScale met Chief Minister Punjab and discussed internet services in schools and other issues. The leading organization AtScale will provide financial support of Rs500 million.

In the meeting, measures were taken to meet the nutritional needs of school children, while health nutrition and other measures were reviewed and the need for cooperation of the relevant departments was emphasized.

Measures were also agreed to increase the capacity of school teachers. On this occasion, Maryam Nawaz said that the first government school for children suffering from autism in Punjab will be established in Lahore, ‘I want to serve the people out of the way the traditional ways’.

She added that the positive change is possible only with new thinking in the new era. Every child has the right to get education according to international standards. Packet Milk project is being started with private collaboration to meet the nutritional needs of students.

She further said that free emergency Wi-Fi facility has been restarted in Lahore.
