CM Punjab determined to supply fertilisers to farmers
Maryam Nawaz ordered to ensure strict and effective measures to stop hoarding and illegal transportation of fertilisers
Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Tuesday said that she will ensure the supply of fertilisers to the farmers.
A special meeting was held under the chairmanship of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, in which the situation of fertilisers requirement and availability in the province was reviewed.
During the briefing, it was informed that the demand and production of urea fertiliser in Punjab is about 6.5 million tons, about 70 percent of the country's production of urea fertilizer is used for Rabi and Kharif crops in Punjab.
Maryam Nawaz expressed satisfaction over the trend of reduction in fertiliser prices and ordered to ensure strict and effective measures to stop hoarding and illegal transportation of fertilizers.
In the meeting, the need to adopt a transparent procedure to ensure the availability of fertiliser to the farmers was emphasized. The Chief Minister of Punjab also directed to make effective digital supply monitoring of fertiliser supply from the plant to the dealer.
The meeting presided over by the Chief Minister considered recommendations for amendments in the Pesticides and Fertilizers Act and a principled decision was taken to establish a special helpline for registration in Kisan Card Program.
Talking on this occasion, Maryam Nawaz said that the supply of fertiliser to the farmers of Punjab will be ensured in any case. The negligence in stopping the hoarding and smuggling of fertiliser will not be tolerated at all, the interests of every farmer will be protected. The exploitation of farmers will not be accepted in any case.
