Pleasant weather with rain in Lahore, other cities
The weather became pleasant as the heat wave broke due to rain
Lahore: In different parts of the country, including Lahore and Islamabad, along with strong wind, some heavy rain, and intermittent light rain set in, after which the weather became pleasant.
There was light and heavy rain with strong wind in different cities of Punjab in the early morning. In the provincial capital Lahore, the areas of Shimla Pahari, Lakshmi Chowk, Gawalmandi, Qurtaba Chowk, Davies Road, Mall Road, Ichhra, Qainchi, Chungi Amar Sadhu, Gajumta, Islampura, Band Road, Anarkali, Shalamar Bagh, Model Town, Gulbarg, Garden Town and other places were covered with clouds.
Punjab
It rained in various cities of Punjab including Attock, Taxila, Chunian, Minchinabad, Gujranwala, Narowal, Gujrat, and Kasur. The weather became pleasant as the heat wave broke due to rain. As the weather cools down, the faces of the citizens light up with joy. It also heavily rained in Kasur, Renala, Khurdawar, and Pakpattan. People had to face problems due to the power transmission system being affected in some places.
Apart from this, there was heavy rain with thunder in the federal capital Islamabad, while in Rawalpindi there was a hailstorm along with the rain. After the rains, the weather in the twin cities became pleasant and the citizens heaved a sigh of relief to get rid of the heat.
Karachi
On the other hand, clouds have camped in Karachi as well. There is drizzle in different areas, while the weather has become pleasant in Clifton, DHA and Korangi.
Devastation due to torrential rains in Rakhi Gaj
Torrential rains wreaked havoc in Rakhi Gaj tribal area of Mount Sulaiman in Dera Ghazi Khan. The traffic from Punjab to Balochistan was suspended due to landslides in a ten-kilometer area.
NDMA alert
National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an alert saying that there is a possibility of heavy rain in different parts of the country during the next three days. Rainfall in excess of 50-100 mm is likely to lead to local riverine flooding and urban flooding.
According to NDMA, urban flooding may occur in the urban areas of Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot and Rawalpindi due to rain, while there is a risk of landslides and flash flooding in Guliyat, Kashmir, Kohistan, Mansehra, and Murree.
Provincial Disaster Management Authorities (PDMA) and local administrations were instructed to be vigilant and take appropriate measures to protect the population from damage.
The NDMA has appealed to the public to ensure drainage at home and take proactive measures to deal with urban flooding, and report any blocked drains or potential hazards to local authorities immediately.
