IHC allows Sanam Javed to go home, stay silent

Islamabad: Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) allowed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) worker Sanam Javed to go home and stay mum.

The judge directed the police authoriites not to arrest her till Thursday.

Justice Aurangzeb also made it clear that Sanam Javed should stay mum during this period otherwise the court would withdraw its order.  The judge had directed that Sanam should not be taken out of the Islamabad jurisdiction till the next hearing. The judge also lauded the police for producing Sanam before the court.

"We will decide this case during the working days," remarked Justice Aurangzeb.

The court also sought complete record of the cases against the PTI worker.

Earlier in the day,  Islamabad Session Judge Mureed Abbas had directed the police to ensure Sanam Javed's appearance at the IHC. The proceedings saw strict security measures in place to maintain order during her court appearance.

During the hearing, Sanam Javed's lawyer requested that the case be paused according to the Islamabad High Court's instructions. Judge Mureed Abbas responded by stating he would verify the directive with his office.

Later, the session judge confirmed receiving directions from the IHC. In compliance with these instructions, Sanam Javed was ordered to be presented before the high court. Judge Mureed Abbas underscored that the session court could not issue any decisions until the IHC had made its ruling.

It is important to note that Sanam Javed had been granted bail by a local court after being presented by the FIA.
