ECP meeting again today on giving reserved seats to PTI
Implementation of Supreme Court orders regarding reserved seats will be reviewed from various aspects
Islamabad: The consultation meeting of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) regarding giving reserved seats to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will be held again today (Friday).
According to the details, in today's meeting of the Election Commission, the implementation of the orders of the Supreme Court regarding reserved seats will be reviewed from various aspects. The meeting will be presided over by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja.
It is pertinent to note that the ECP had a meeting on the issue of reserved seats yesterday, in which aspects related to the implementation of the Supreme Court's order were reviewed.
ECP Chief Sikandar Sultan Raja participated in the meeting through video link from Lahore.
Law Wing while giving a briefing said that the Election Commission has the right to review the decision of the Supreme Court. There is ambiguity in the judgment regarding the two affidavits. PTI has no organizational structure, due to which there is ambiguity as to whose reserved lists should be approved.
It should be noted that the Supreme Court has ordered to allot reserved seats in the National Assembly, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab and Sindh Assemblies to PTI. The Election Commission could not take a final decision on the orders of the Supreme Court in the meeting held yesterday.
