Taimur Jhagra presents KP budget for FY22, CM congratulates for surpassing Rs1tr mark

The minister announced to increase salaries of the government employees by 25 per cent, saying the govenment servants who are unable to avail special incentives would be give 37 per cent raise in pays. Jhagra said the govenrment has proposed 10 per cent ahoc relief alloance for govenrment employees.

“We have also increased house rent for government employees by seven per cent”, he said adding that the minimum wage for labourers has been fixed at Rs21,000.

Jhagra went on to say that an increase in pensions of widows by 100 per cent is also proposed in the FY 2021-22.

He said an amount of Rs118 billion has been porposed to meet the expenses of budget for outgoing fiscal year, adding the government is proposing Rs747 billion under current expenditure of the province.   

To facilitate 7.2 million families, he said an amount of Rs23 billion will be spent on health cards, adding Rs230 billion are being allocated for emergency expenses. The health budget is being increased by 19 per cent in the upcoming fiscal year.

Jhagra told the house that the KP is expecting to receive Rs475 billion against its share in the federal divisible pool, Rs57 billion for fighting war against terrorism and Rs75 billion for wind power. 

The government has earmarked Rs120 billion for the developmet of tribal areas, adding Rs320 billion have been allocated for the Annual Development Programme (ADP).

The finance minister also announced Rs130 billion for education, saying  Rs230 million has been allocated for scholarships. 

The minister said Rs48.1 billion are being allocated for the finance department, Rs5.01 billion for industries, Rs1.78 billion for information and culture, and Rs2.58 billion for science and technology.

He said the province has witnessed 67 per cent surge in provincial receipts in the fiscal year 2020-21, adding Rs500 have been earmarked for development plus budget.
