Omar Ayub says govt wants to impose constitutional amendments

Islamabad: Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Omar Ayub on Monday termed the proposed constitutional amendments "dangerous," stating that the government lacks the necessary support to push them through.
He was talking to media after his appearance in the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in connection with the May 9 case registered at Cantt Police Station of Gujranwala.
Ayub said that the government didn’t have enough numbers, so how could they proceed with such changes?
Opposition leader said that his party members were picked up, about which they even complained in the special committee meeting where, he added, even prominent political figures such as Bilawal Bhutto, Khursheed Shah, and Azam Nazeer Tarar were present.
"Government wants to force these amendments at gunpoint, but it won’t happen," he stressed. Ayub also emphasized his faith in a higher power to prevent any wrongdoing, stating, "We are on the right path. God will create ways to stop them from doing wrong."
