College, university students in Punjab to get driving license
Administration including students of universities and colleges will get the licenses
Lahore: It has been decided to issue driving licenses to students of colleges and universities in Punjab.
According to the spokesperson of Traffic Headquarters Punjab, Additional Inspector general (IG) Traffic has decided to provide licenses to students and in this regard a letter has been issued to all Chief Traffic Officers (CTOs) and District Transport Offices (DTOs), according to which the administration including students of universities and colleges will get the licenses.
He said that a large number of students are driving motorcycles and vehicles without a license, which causes accidents. A special drive has been launched across Punjab to issue driving licenses to students and faculty.
Under the plan, CTOs and DTOs will meet heads of all educational institutions immediately. The focal persons will be appointed by universities across the province. The universities and colleges administration will transport the students to the testing centers, where all the facilities related to the driving license will be provided to the students.
Higher Education Commission (HEC) Punjab has issued instructions to educational institutions regarding the campaign.
