If economic proposals followed, Pakistan program likely to be last: IMF

Islamabad: The International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission chief in Pakistan Nathan Porter said that if Pakistan honestly implements the economic proposals, this could be its last program.

Talking to the American Broadcasting Corporation, Nathan Porter stated that after the volatility and uncertainty that Pakistan's economy experienced in the middle of 2023, economic stability has come to the country.

He added that this program can provide a good base to move the economy forward and if Pakistan follows the economic proposals honestly, this can be its last program.

On the question of strict loan conditions, the IMF mission chief further said that specific problems faced by any country are considered and solutions are provided. Pakistan's current program is neither different nor too strict.

Nathan Porter opposed granting special concessions to Special Economic Zones, saying that the IMF does not consider incentives for businesses to help achieve economic goals.
