SC dismisses petition against 26th Constitutional Amendment

Islamabad: The Supreme Court dismissed the petition against the 26th constitutional amendment on grounds of withdrawal.

A three-member bench of the Supreme Court, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa, heard the appeal against the objections of the Registrar's Office on the 26th Constitutional Amendment, in which Advocate Hamid Khan appeared in the court on behalf of the petitioners.

Hamid Khan took a position in the court that they wanted to withdraw the application.

The Chief Justice inquired if he was engaged to withdraw the application. This could have been said by Mr Zuberi himself. To which Advocate Hamid Khan replied that he appeared on behalf of all the petitioners.

Later, the Supreme Court dismissed the petition against the proposed constitutional amendment on the grounds of withdrawal.

During the hearing, the Chief Justice while talking to Abid Zubiri said that you had another request, I as the Chief Justice of Pakistan did not schedule this request for a hearing. Maybe now that request will come later.

Advocate Hamid Khan replied, you are very kind.
